Internship Programs

MITACS

MITACS Accelerate Internship Program

Each 4-month internship project receives $15,000 in direct funding, with the partner organization and MITACS each providing $7,500. It is required that the intern receive a stipend of a minimum of $10,000 of the total grant per 4-month internship with the remaining $5,000 supporting other costs associated with the research. The conduit between the partner company and the university is a graduate student or post-doctoral fellow under the guidance of a professor Continuous Intake Link
Natural Resource Canada Science and Technology Internship Program Up to $13,200 in matching funds Provides an opportunity for recent graduates in science or engineering to gain relevant and meaningful work experiences within their field of studies

NRC-IRAP Youth Employment Program The maximum contribution is $30,000 towards the salary costs of a post-secondary graduate. To hire post-secondary (aged 15-30) science, engineering, technology, business and liberal arts graduates. Continuous Intake Link
NSERC IPS – Industrial Postgraduate Scholarships Program $15,000 per year for up to three years plus a minimum contribution from the sponsoring organization of $6,000 per year provide financial support for highly qualified science and engineering graduates. These scholarships are aimed at encouraging scholars to consider research careers in industry where they will be able to contribute to strengthening Canadian innovation. Continuous Intake Link
NSERC USRA – Undergraduate Student Research Awards Program $4,500 plus organization contribution of at least $1125. For students to gain research work experience that complements their studies in an academic setting, these awards can provide them with financial support through their host university. NSERC encourages qualified Aboriginal students to apply to this program. Set by university Link
Service Canada (Gov. of Canada) Career Focus Program Income support to individuals (wages) based on the applicable prevailing wage rate for the occupation, to a maximum of $15 000 per participant – and other eligible costs. Client-centered program for post-secondary graduate youth designed to meet the needs of a knowledge-based economy. Continuous Intake Link
Service Canada (Gov. of Canada) Canada Summer Jobs Program Job-posting services;
information on wage rates and employment standards;
potential employees for more permanent positions; and
information on Government of Canada and provincial/territorial employment initiatives.
Support for small businesses with 50 or fewer employees to create jobs that not only meet their needs, but also to benefit students looking to gain work experiences. Application period is between February 1 to February 28  for summer employment for that year. Link
